History

The hotel building was originally built in 1934 by one Paddy Connelly, a race horse owner and hotel entrepreneur and in that style, still offers a great opportunity for a peaceful weekend away from the hustle and bustle in the city or a convenient stop off for northbound travellers. The hotel is unusual as construction was started during the Great Depression. It is a significant streetscape element and integral within the townscape and character of Miling and still has a beautiful and imposing character. It was opened on 19th December 1934 and although there was great hardship across Australia at that time, the Miling Hotel was open in time for Christmas celebrations for the builders and townsfolk of Miling. Miling hotel provided a much welcomed boost to moral in the middle of history’s worst recession.
